Pairing Z-Wave devices
Include a device, what to do when it was paired before, and why distance matters during pairing.
- In the Novon app choose Devices → Add and pick Z-Wave.
- Put the device in inclusion mode: for most Novon switches and plugs that is a quick triple-tap of the paddle or button; your device's quick-start card shows the exact pattern.
- Stay close to the hub for the first pairing (a few metres) even if the device will live far away; you can move it afterwards and the mesh will adapt.
- Wait for the app to finish interviewing the device. This can take a minute for devices with many features.
It was paired before
A device that still belongs to another hub, or was removed without being excluded, refuses to pair. Run Exclude device from the app first (any Z-Wave controller can exclude), put the device in exclusion mode (usually the same tap pattern), then try inclusion again.
If it still fails
Pull the power (or battery) from the device for ten seconds, move within two metres of the hub, and retry. If that does not help, see Device not connecting.
